FERNIE FREESTYLE

Fernie Freestyle offers high-quality programs for young athletes (ages 6+) who want to develop their freestyle skiing or snowboarding skills in a fun, safe, and supportive environment. We train across all major freestyle disciplines—Slopestyle (jumps & rails), Moguls, Halfpipe, Big Mountain, and Natural Terrain—with a focus on progression, confidence, and lifelong mountain skills.

Our home mountain is Fernie Alpine Resort in beautiful Fernie, BC. Athletes train in ability- and age-based groups, and our goal is to maintain a 6:1–8:1 athlete-to-coach ratio to ensure personalized coaching and strong skill development. Whether athletes are skiing for fun or have competitive goals, our coaching team works hard to help each athlete meet their individual objectives.

We encourage every athlete to participate in a competition when they feel ready—always aiming to create a positive, motivating first-competition experience. Throughout the season, there are a variety of local Elk Valley events suitable for every level and discipline.

Our athletes have gone on to compete at the BC Winter Games, Canadian Junior Nationals, Canada Winter Games, and Provincial & National Freestyle Ski Teams. We also support competitive pathways in IFSA Freeski & Snowboard events (Regional 2 and 3) and BC Snowboard competitions across BC and Alberta.

At the heart of Fernie Freestyle is the goal of developing strong, confident all-mountain skiers and riders. Our programs follow the Long-Term Athlete Development (LTAD) models of Freestyle Canada and Canada Snowboard, ensuring every athlete has the opportunity to progress as far as they choose—and become a Skier or Rider for Life.
