COACHES
Fernie Freestyle Ski Club is dedicated to creating skiers for life through freestyle programs that are fun, safe, and skill-building. Our coaching team is fully trained and certified through the Canadian Freestyle Ski Association (CFSA), with additional qualifications including CSIA and NCCP. They work hard to deliver engaging, athlete-centered programming that encourages progression at each skier’s own pace. Safety is the foundation of every training day, and we strive to maintain a 6:1 athlete-to-coach ratio to support quality instruction.
Our programs follow the Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD) framework outlined by the CFSA, providing a clear and supportive pathway for athletes to advance their freestyle skills year after year.

PROGRAM DIRECTOR / HEAD COACH
Coach Chris Ebbern leads Fernie Freestyle as our Program Director and Head Coach, bringing more than 20 years of coaching experience across all levels—from grassroots development to World Cup athletes.
Chris is a certified Freestyle Coach, Level 3 CSIA Instructor, and Level 2 CFSA Instructor. Before joining Fernie Freestyle, he spent over five years as Head Coach of the Alberta Provincial Park & Pipe Team, where he played a key role in developing high-performance athletes and advancing the program.
As an athlete, Chris competed internationally in Big Mountain, Big Air, Halfpipe, and Slopestyle, including appearances at X Games Australia and multiple top-level competitions over a seven-year career.
We are excited to have Chris return as Head Coach. His experience, leadership, and passion for athlete development are helping build a strong, well-rounded program that supports skiers and coaches in reaching their goals—both in freestyle skiing and beyond.
