Focus: The focus is on having fun skiing the mountain, learning freestyle/freeride skills following Canada Freestyle Long Term Athlete Development Model. This program isn’t competition-driven but gives athletes all the skills and confidence needed for when they are ready to compete in a BC freestyle Shred Series or Regional Events, as well as Regional 2 IFSA events(Big Mtn). Athletes will learn and play in each of the freestyle disciplines - Moguls, Park and Pipe and Big Mountain - with our Freestyle Canada certified coaches. A strong focus will be set on fundamental skill building to develop these athletes all over the mountain.
Athletes must be capable of getting around the mountain with parallel turns on their own to qualify. Group sizes will be 6 to 8 athletes per coach. Athletes will have access to Fernie Freestyle's private slopestyle and mogul training courses as well as Fernie Alpine Resort Legendary terrain.
This is a great program to get into freestyle with an option of gentle competition when athletes are ready within the Elk Valley.
Note with any competition outside of Fernie all coaching expenses will be split between all athletes attending. Additional coaching days outside of the program you selected are charged out at ($50/day). We recommend athletes try at least one local event in the year. Fernie is planning on Hosting a Regional Event in March and FAR hosts a IFSA(BigMtn) in Feb.
Athletes will have an added options to sign up for weekly trampoline training which is the foundation of all air skills, as well as Friday PM Sessions on-hill if they like extra training. Note our Friday program can be a stand alone program as well for athletes busy on the weekends.
*All athletes require a Freestyle Canada/FBC CLUB membership in addition to program registration. If you choose to do an IFSA event(Big Mtn) that FFC targets you will require a IFSA membership as well.
