PROGRAMS
Fernie Freestyle is a year-round program with the primary focus being winter on snow training. In addition we offer off-season (May-Nov) dryland & trampoline training, along with Air Bag & Water Ramp Camps through-out BC and Alberta with one on Snow Summer Camp in Whistler BC in July.
Our primary Program is in the winter and our home hill is Fernie Alpine Resort. We've got a private Mogul Course, and Slopestyle Course with jumps and rails where we train for events such as Moguls, Slopestyle and Big Air. We also ski the amazing natural Fernie Alpine Resort terrain focusing on big mountain technique along with the RCR rail park.
For Calgary based athletes, we offer mid-week skiing at WinSport (Jan -March) which provides an additional opportunity for our skiers to practice their slopestyle/halfpipe and mogul skills using the world class venues at Winsport.
To help athletes become more "air aware", we have 2 olympic trampolines and run programs throughout the year in Fernie at Max Turyk Community Centre and in Calgary at varies venues. Trampoline training is a fundamental aspect of Freestyle skiing because it allows athletes to become more comfortable with spins and inverts in a safe, coached environment. Athletes must qualify tricks off snow before being permitted to try them on snow. Safety is a key aspect of our athlete training.
The Club's goal is to create skiers for life through freestyle skiing programs that focus on skills in a fun, safe and challenging environment where athletes learn from experienced FC (Freestyle Canada) and Snowboard Canada certified coaches. Our program is based on the Long Term Athlete Development Plan, outlined by the FC and we offer programs that allow skiers to progress their freestyle skills with the Club.
